Grandparents

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
&
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Grandpa Gunner
Our little darlings are growing like weeds. Their eyes are open now, and I can hear them growling and barking at each other in the nursery. I don't get to spend much time with them yet, but I'm looking forward to the day I can romp through the house with them nipping at my ???, well let's hope it's just my heels.
Mom's been busy wrapping Christmas gifts, trimming the tree, and taking care of the little ones. It's going to be quite a Christmas with all of the kids this year. I can just see them playing with the wrapping paper and the bows. I'm sure the the digital camera will get quite a work out!
Holiday's can be such a nostalgic time. I was just thinking it might be nice to post a couple of pictures of my inlaws. So here is a picture of Grandpa Gunner and Grandma Lady.
Happy Holidays!

THEY'RE HERE!

Well, my sweetheart Tilley Jo delivered 7 beautiful puppies on November 18th. Five girls, and 2 boys. It figures, I'm out numbered again! Anyway, the color breakdown is 1-lvr/wht/tri male, 2-lvr/wht/tri females, 1-lvr/wht male, and 3-lvr/wht females. I've gotta say, they are probably the prettiest pups I've ever seen. But then I say that with each litter. Ha Ha.
The folks were tied up with her most of the weekend! In fact, I'm pretty sure they were up all night on Saturday just awaiting the arrival. Now is when I start pouting around quite a bit. My Tilley and those pups will be getting the lions share of the attention around here for the next 8 weeks! Good grief. I've been known to go on a hunger strike now and then, but it doesn't pay off. They continue to tempt me with treats and the like until I give in. Maybe I'll lift my leg on the sofa or something. Now that's bound to get some attention! My Nittany girl tried making a little spot on the new carpet. It worked for her, but I'm not sure that's the kind of attention I'm looking for! I guess I'd better think on it some more.
I heard my Mom say she was going to post some pictures of the bunch just as soon as she gets a free minute. I overheard her and Dad talking about a bunch of company coming over for Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll get a little turkey this week.
I'll keep you posted, and stay on Mom's case about posting those pictures. In the meantime, you can always email them @ dnkspringers@comcast.net. They love talking about the babies. I hope your Thanksgiving Holiday will be as special as ours.

Isn't She Lovely
My girl Nittany. Isn't she gorgeous. We had just returned from a day at the "SPA" as our Mom refers to it. We all get haircuts, nails trimmed, and a nice relaxing bath. Yea right! Anyway, I can't say it's something we look forward to, however we do look and smell alot better. As you can see from this photo, she's all tuckered out!

Where has Summer Gone!
The General, Tilley Jo, Lady Nittany
Wow! It's November, and I just realized how long it's been since I last updated our blog! Holy Cow!
Anyway, I'm gonna do my doggone best to remember all the happenings since July. Yea right. I can tell you this. Summer was great. Spent an awful lot of time in the ole' swimmin hole. Along with that, however, came a few ear infections. That's right, I love the water. I jumped in the pool every chance I got. It kept me in shape for the girls. They just love a buff guy. Of course, my girls, Nitt and Tills love the water too, but they are a little more laid back than I am when it comes to diving in. It turned out to be a wonderful summer. Lots of sunny days just lounging in the back yard, chasing chipmunks and squirrels, taking runs down at the fields with Mom and Dad, and strutting my stuff for the ladies. Well let me tell you something, it paid off!
Yep, my girl Tilley Jo is due in about two weeks. It wasn't easy though. See Mom and Dad went on vacation in September. I heard Mom telling Dad that it would probably be best if they sent one of us to our favorite vets for the week. Well Dad wouldn't here of it, so we all three of us got to stay home, and our neighbor Lindsay took care of us. She's great! She did just what she was told. Keep me and my Tilley girl apart! Well, little did she know, I can climb the fence. It took a little doing on my part, but I overcame that small, but tall obstacle, and found my Tilley just waiting for me on the other side. I heard Lindsay give a shriek when she returned to let us in the house. Made a frantic call to the folks to let them know what had happened. Too late. The rest is history, and the little folks will be welcomed with much love as always real soon!
I'll be sending out a birth announcement including pictures just as soon as Mom gets them to me. Keep checking!
Luv,
The General

Time Flies!
Hello everyone. It's the "General", a/k/a Boiler. Once again, too much time has passed since my last post. We three Springers have been having a wonderful summer. The last of my gal Tilley's pups left for their forever homes right after the 4th of July. Up until that time, our days were filled with keeping up with the little darlings.
The masters have been taking me and my two girls down to the fields to run almost everyday. Master Dad tries to take us out right after breakfast. I think I've finally figured out why. First of all, it's cooler, second is that the three of us usually do our business down there, and it's three less piles that have to be scooped up out of the backyard, and thirdly, we are all ready for a long nap, and Master Dad can get some work done!
Sometimes in the evening, when Master Mommy comes home from work, we all go swimming! Me and Nittany really love that, and take turns diving in. Nittany even likes to float on the mattress with Mom. I prefer to get a running start! I gallop like a madman around the deep end, leap almost clean across the shallow end, climb out at the ladder and repeat the process until I and the masters lose count. Tilley doesn't like to dive, so she gets lifted in. She's so pampered!
I'm in quantine right now. It seems my Lady Nittany is in heat again. I do my best to talk the masters into letting me spend some time with her, but to no avail! I'm basically depressed, refuse to eat, and climb up on their laps while I cry and whine like a baby. Nothing is working this time around! The way I understand it, she gets to relax until Spring time. Go figure! What about me! They could have at least shipped me off to some deserted island for three weeks! Somebody help me PLEEEASE! Just to let you know how stressful it is, Master Dad and me took a trip to visit Grandma this week. I broke my fast, and ate some of her cookies.
I heard something about Tilley's turn being right around the corner? Does this mean another three weeks of sheer agony? If I survive these next few weeks without a nervous breakdown, I'll write another post. If not, consider this my last.

The Squirrels
Good Morning from Northern Indiana. It's a beautiful late Spring day. The sun is shining and there isn't a cloud in the sky. The masters have been doing quite a bit of yard work. It seems they are constantly attempting to "Springer proof" the back yard. Oh we have plenty of room to romp and play, but every day I'm released for recess, something has been moved or put in my regular path to the back fence. I am constantly being redirected from my usual route! You see, I like to make a b-line to the back where I know the squirrels are hanging out. They love to tantilize me. It drives me and the girls crazy. Just when we think we have the quickest route mapped out, a new plant or rock have been strategically placed in the path?? This takes additional seconds off our time, and causes us to consistently miss capturing one of those little varmits! Well, the masters are always saying, "Look at the bright side", at least we are able to keep up with our agility training!

Spring Has Sprung!
Master Mom and Nittany's PupsTime flies! The little darlings have just passed their six week old mark and are zooming in, out and around everything! I haven't had the privilege of spending too much time with them, but that's okay with me. When I am allowed in the front yard to play, it isn't the most pleasant experience! I swear they have razors for teeth. They like to jump up and try to bite my stomach. Well if you're a boy dog, you know that can be pretty painful if they miss and strike just below the belt line. Good grief! I'm content hanging out back with Nittany. I'm glad to have her back in my life. It's lonesome when she's not around, but now my Tilley girl has been taken away from me.
The masters were up all night Saturday awaiting another delivery! My Lady Tilley gave birth to 5 beautiful puppies on Mother's Day morning. How appropriate! She had 4 boys and only 1 girl, but Master Dad and Master Mom were very excited because the girl and one of the boys are lvr/wht/tri's!? Whatever that means. Sounds good anyway! The other three males look just like me, handsome little buggers!
Well, I've been trying to get Master Mom to write sooner, but it's really hard to track her down lately. Go figure! Hopefully she won't wait so long in between my posts. I can communicate with her, but I can't type!

LITTLE DARLINGS!
Oh my goodness! Things are really hoppin around here. I haven't been allowed to get a real good look at the seven angels, but it shouldn't be too long now. I can't believe they are 2 weeks old already. We have an occasional visitor, but it seems they are more interested in seeing the puppies than they are me and Tilley. It's a real bummer. I get all excited and try to attract their attention, but to no avail. Oh well, my time will come this summer when I'm able to jump in the ole swimmin hole, and do some of my fancy springing through the tulips in the back yard. All of the little girls have been sold, which leaves 3 boys. That's okay, cause I'm a little out numbered around here. I could use some pals to do some leg lifting with me, if you know what I mean.
The sun is shining here, and I overheard Master Dad say he was going to take me and Tilley on an afternoon run. I'm out-of-breath just thinking about it. Master Mom has been spending quite a bit of her time in the kitchen. Every once in awhile, she starts spreading stuff on the kitchen walls. It's colorful, but leaves the house full of fumes for a couple of days. My sinuses are killing me. Yesterday, she was giving the puppies their first dose of worm medication. Well wouldn't you know it, the whole darn bunch of us had to take that stuff. They tried to put it in a bowl of Frosted Flakes, but I wasn't fooled. It tastes nasty. The girls ate all of theirs, but I guess they'll have to come up with something a little better than a bowl of cereal to fool me!
Stay tuned for more Springer stories coming soon.....

THE ARRIVAL!
They arrived! Seven of the little darlings. The first one was delivered about 4:00 p.m. and the last at 10:45 p.m. Once the Queen started delivering, she was wisked away to her private quarters in Master Dad's office. Of course, Tilley and I are to be on our best behavior, and not demand too much attention until all puppies have arrived, been checked in and are resting comfortably. I only was able to see the first one, as Lady Nittany prefers to have her first one in the company of her two best buds, me and Tilley. She is a black/white, and a real looker. As I remained in the family room, I could overhear all the commotion with each new arrival. If my calculations are correct we have 3 blk/wht females, 1 lvr/wht female, 2 lvr/wht males, and 1 blk/wht male! I'm sure Master Mom will be proud to forward pictures to anyone interested in seeing the little blessings from heaven.

JUST A HANDSOME GUY!

Look at me. Yep, I finally talked Master Mom into taking a couple of decent pictures of me showing off. Handsome little guy aren't I? Well, it's a gorgeous early Spring Day here in Indiana. I'm looking forward to getting a nice run in this afternoon as soon as Mommy gets home from work. The ice has finally melted on the ole swimmin hole. The only problem is there's still a cover over the top of it! I'm looking forward to jumping in after a long day of soaking up some rays. I'll keep you posted as the arrival date nears for the bundle of joys. Signed: The GeneralFriday, March 16, 2007
March Madness
Hey There! It's Friday, and everyone around here has been spending alot of time in front of this box. During the day it mostly stays black, but come late afternoon and evening, the thing comes alive. I've tried to watch it, but my neck gives out from moving my head back and forth. It appears there is some kind of ball being tossed around and around between humans. At some point, an attempt is made to launch it up into the air towards a basket of some sort. It's all too much for me and the girls, but the masters seem to get a really big kick out of it. I can hear them hooping and hollering about fouls, referees, and once in a while I hear those *&!%@!^ refs! Anyway, all I'm really interested in is getting my three squares a day, and my afternoon naps. This evening we all went on a 2-mile run. It was great!
Once we arrived home, I overheard the masters talking with the lady across the street regarding some recent breakins. I'm just hoping I don't have to put my guard dog face on anytime soon.
Tonight promises to be wall-to-wall basketball, which is the good news. The masters love their popcorn, and frankly, so do I. Over and out, The General

Puppies
Hey, I can't believe so much time has passed since my last post! It's just crazy around here! Here it is March the 8th, and we still have snow on the ground, the old swimming hole is still iced over, and I've got a real bad case of "cabin fever". On the bright side of things, my other little lady, Tilley Jo is now in heat. So this upcoming weekend may prove to be exciting for me! That is if the Masters don't change their minds. I hear them talking every night about whether or not they want another litter of pups coming so close to the first one. Oh my gosh! I just realized that Nittany's puppies will be here in about 3 weeks! Time flies!

Nitt's on Weight Watchers
Oh Great! Nittany has informed me that since she's expecting, she is going to have to watch her waistline. Isn't that just the cat's meow! Oh well, I'm just thankful she takes such pride in herself to want to stay in shape for me. Isn't she gorgeous! These next couple of months are going to be really something. I can't wait for Spring so that I can get back to doing what I do best; "Springin" Tuesday, February 20, 2007
Well, it's finally warming up here in the Great White North. All the snow is beginning to melt with the 30 deg days this week. Me and my gals have just been hanging around. Master Dad took us on a 2 mile run yesterday. We were plumb tuckered out! Slept the afternoon away, but were full of energy just in time to greet Mom. We just found out that my sweetheart, Nittany is expecting! The little guys and gals should be arriving sometime around the 1st of April. Just in time for Spring. That means she'll be napping more for the next couple of months. She tends to get a little moody too. Can hardly wait for the little buggers to arrive!

Things are looking up today! The sun is shining, and we've reached double digits. It's a heat wave. Me and the two girls in my life are hoping for a frolic in the field today. Even if it's just for 10 minutes. I'm going crazy couped up in the house. I'm tired of chewing on bones, rocking in the chair, and listening to the ladies fight over me. It's a dog's life!

We Three Springers
We are three Springer Spaniels, and we live a Life of Riley. Our backyard is fenced in with a pool and has lots of plants to use as potty posts, or for pruning as we see fit! It's awfully cold here, so our outdoor time has been quite limited the past few days. This makes for some boring afternoons around the old homestead. On warmer days, our Dad takes us down to the field where we can run off some of our caged up energy. We're thankful he works out of our home which allows extra time for such things. We'll write more later so you can get to know each of us on an individual basis. Signed "The General"
